16 Months

Today Natalie is 16 months! I'm still not sure when I'll stop doing monthly updates, so much keeps changing that I don't think it will be anytime soon.

Here's what she's been up to this last month:

-She has become super attached to Matt and I. Since she was about 6 months old she has always had a bit of stranger anxiety, but now it's to the point she cries if we drop her off at Matt's parent's house, or if I'm not in the same room as her when other guests are over at our house.

-She walks backwards sometimes, I don't know why she does it.

-If she takes a little tumble or stubs her toe on something she will look/act upset and holds out the body part that's "hurt" until you kiss it.

-Still a picky little eater.

-STILL waking up several times a night. If fact, she seems to have digressed a lot and started waking up a lot more recently. It's hard for me to keep track in the wee hours of the night, but we're somewhere around 7-10 times a night she awakes and we have to shove a bottle in her mouth. Our doctor said she wakes up basically because she know she can and we'll feed her and the only way to stop that is to put her in her crib and let her cry it out. That for me just isn't doable right now, I feel awful about it, though I know the longer we wait the harder it will be. I just can't. I understand completely why parent's chose this method to get their little ones to sleep, it just doesn't seem right for me at this point. I however am really tired of how often she wakes, so I'm going to try not giving her a bottle and rocking her/soothing her instead. I know she needs to figure out her own way of falling asleep sooner or later.

-She's was a month late for her 15 month check up due to scheduling conflicts, so she got a 16 month check up instead on Monday. She 22 lbs (59th percentile) and 33 inches (97th percentile). The doctor said she looks perfectly healthy and on point with where she should be!

-She wears size 18-24 months in clothes, though a lot of 12 month sizes still fit and size 5 or 6 in shoes. Still size 4 in diapers.

-She can identify 8 different shapes, 10 different animal sounds, can say 10+ words clearly, 20ish words if you give her some leniency, and knows how to sign three different words.

-She's got a little cold right now, so we gave her a spoonful of honey last night to ease her cough (doctor recommended it since she's over 12 months now it's completely safe). That was her first time having honey and her reaction was so funny. She shivered and then started acting kinda loopy, then came back for more.

-She can climb on/off our couch with no problem.

-Still a Daddy's girl.

-She refers to herself as "Na-na".

-She learned how to do a somersault today! I think the first time was accidental, she was looking through her legs upside down and fell over, then thought it was funny and kept doing it again and again.

That's all I can think of for now. I swear Natalie gets more and more fun by the day, smarter and smarter too!

It was really windy out the day I took this, hence the old man comb over look going on.

Hunter has been waking up a lot more too lately, at least 2-3 times a night if not more. Fortunately I typically just have to give him his paci back, tuck him back in and he falls asleep right away. VERY rarely do we have to resort to letting him cry it out. Thank goodness, I hate doing that.

Drew is almost 2 and a quarter and STILL won't get over a tiny bump unless we kiss it so be prepared. And yes, I've had to kiss his toosh before. :) Hope she feels better soon!!

Adorable girl! :) She sounds like a very clever young lady and so much fun right now! I still haven't even tried shapes with Lids yet but this reminded me to at least start mentioning them. Lids is just becoming much more attached to DH and I now at almost 15 months. It's sweet but really tough at times!

So adorable!! :) :) :)

Presley does the crying bit when anyone else tries to hold her. Damn, that is grating! But it's sweet that they love of so! ;) Give and take, I guess.

Sounds like she's thriving! The sleep situation does sound rough though, so hopefully that takes a turn for the better. And Chloe does the same thing if she gets an owie - walks over to us to kiss it. I love it! :)

Ouch sorry to hear her sleeping isn't getting better. Chloe sleeps great for the most part, but I couldn't do the crying method either. I did it when she was younger (let her cry for a few minutes, if she didn't settle I'd go get her and try again in a few minutes), and that's probably why she sleeps better now because she's a little used to putting herself to sleep. I couldn't let her cry it out now. I'd feel too bad.
It sounds like she's doing so great otherwise. Definitely a smart girl. Smarter than mine :p haha. Is she really a size 5 or 6? Madi is over two and she's only a 6. Chloe's tiny and she's a four. Are our shoe sizes the same from Canada to US? I actually don't know lol.

She so beautiful. Na-na. So cute. I love that she walks backwards sometimes, haha. I can't imagine how hard it will be to let my little boy cry when he gets to that point. I can understand how hard that would be.

Haha, that's crazy. Natalie must have big feet, because as far as I know our shoe sizes are the same. I know in Europe they're way different, like a 7 US women's would be 39 in Italy.

Seriously a somersault!? She's definitely gonna be an athlete! Your nights sound reeeeally rough. I don't know if it helps but we have definitely been there. At his worst, sometime closer to 12 months it's a real blur, B was waking up every 30 mins all night. I nursed him back to sleep every time which hurt like hell. I didn't want to let him cry and I was too tired to do anything else so I just did nothing. Now, at 18 months, he's up 1-2 times a night usually and it is pure bliss. I'm pretty sure being woken 7-10 times a night is actually defined as torture for prisoners of war so I hope she miraculously sleeps or you figure out something soon!

Happy 16 months little sweetie! Don't worry... we did the same thing for a really long time when it came to sleep. She would cry and we would be in there with a bottle fast enough to get her to stop and us try and get more shut eye before work. We tried to let her cry it out... but it was just pure torture for everyone. Now she's almost 3 and she gets up once in the middle of the night... to come into our room and snuggle.. and I don't really care what people say.. We are totally content when she does :)

Aw,so sweet she calls herself Na-Na. I loved how my kids "mis-pronounced" their own names for a while, it really is adorable.

Love that picture of her!
