Nurse Mama

Little kids are the epitome of germs and sickness.

Fortunately we've been lucky enough not to have to deal with a sick child for 15 months now. Sure, she's had a slight cold before, equipped with a runny nose and cough but never has Natalie been sick to the point it affects her mood or she has a fever or vomits.

Yesterday morning that all changed when she woke up miserable.

She was crying so hard and clinging to Matt. She got really upset when I went to use the bathroom even though I offered to bring her along with me (yes, sometimes I pee with my kid in the bathroom with me) and continued to cry and hold on to Daddy.

Then Matt yells, "Grab a towel or something, she just threw up!"

That was a first. And from there on we've had a sick little baby.

She was pretty off yesterday, not her normal happy self. She didn't want to do much and took a really long nap (2.5 hours compared to her usual 1-1.5 hour nap). She seemed kinda spaced out and would just stare off from time to time.

The weather was actually pretty decent yesterday and I thought some fresh air might help cheer her up. We went to the park (in retrospect probably not the best place for a sick child, no one else was there though) but she wasn't all that interested.

She went down all the slides, played in the sandbox and we swung together on the swings but really just wanted her mama to hold her and carry her around. I did manage to get her to crack a few smiles though.

Even though she isn't feeling so good you can tell she's trying to do her best. She wants to be happy.

Today I think she might be feeling even worse though. She woke up a lot through the night crying and she's still asleep right now (it's past 10:00 am). I've given her some acetaminophen to help with the crankiness and slight fever and will shower her with extra love and care when she wakes up.

I know this is just part of parenting but it's really sad seeing your child in the state they're in when sick.

Sick kids make me sad!!! I just want to scoop my kid and take sickness away from him when he's not feeling well!

Aww it's so heartbreaking. I'm sad for her. Hopefully it passes quick and she stays healthy for awhile, unlike Chloe's month of craziness. Looking at that last picture you'd never believe she was sick.

Oh noooooo - feel better pretty lady.

Aww, I'm sorry to read this. Little ones who are sick are never fun, but I think it's 10x worse when it's a stomach bug. I have never had a cuddlebug like I did when Chloe was sick - that part of it was great! She sure looks good in those pictures for being under the weather though. Hopefully it passes quickly and doesn't make it to anyone else in the house.

Remember when you knocked on wood to my post:http://sarahandderek.blogspot.com/2013/02/and-sickness-strikes.html
??
This sounds EXACTLY like what Drew had. :) She doesn't look sick at all though (and neither did Drew) so that's good. Hope it was just a quick bug!

Haha, I do remember! I guess I knew something was in our future.

I hope it passes soon too, thanks! At least I can say I'm glad no one else in the house is sick *knock on wood* (I gotta stop doing that) so that's always a positive!

Ugh...so sorry she is sick. That is the worst! Good news is she looks as adorable as ever :)

Poor baby! I got home last night and Hunter was extremely fussy, unhappy and just kept crying no matter what we did or offered him but he's cutting 3 molars right now so I know it's teething related but it's just heartbreaking knowing they are in pain and you can't do much about it. Hope she feels better soon!

Oh poor thing :( I hope she's better soon! It's so hard to see them like that but it sounds like she's got a rockstar immune system to have made it this far.

Poor Natalie ... I bet she just really wants her Mommy right now. Hope she feels better soon. So cute "she WANTS to be happy" I love that and know exactly what you mean. I can see it in her cute little face.

Aw, poor baby :( I hate it for her -- and for you. I can't imagine how hard it is to watch your most precious little gem not feeling her best. (Plus, cleaning up throw up? Not the most fun thing in the world.) Hope she's feeling better soon!!

Awww poor girl! It is the worst thing ever seeing our kids sick, huh!? She still looks super pretty when she is sick!! I hope she feels better tomorrow!

Being sick as a child is miserable! I spent 5 days in hospital with Lil Mister when he was 9 months old! We've battled constently with his chest since he was a newborn! Strongs! Hold on and it will all be better soon. I was once told it is better they are sick now as young-ins because it bulks up their immune system for later in life!

First of all, poor baby!!! I totally lucked out with a child who is rarely not feeling well (knock on wood as yesterday she got her first kiss from a little boy with a cough...yuck)...but when she is feeling slightly under the weather, it is the saddest thing!! second of all, you sometimes pee with her in the room? I seldom get to pee without my little lady staring at me grinning!! I take the opportunity to talk her through it, hoping she wants to do what mommy is doing sometime soon lol

Poor baby! I hope she gets to feeling better ASAP! Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. :-)

Aw, hope she is better by now! I'm just getting caught up on blog reading. You really can tell int he pics that she wants to be happy even though she didn't feel well.
