Cry, Baby, Cry

Since it’s been going on for around five months now, I have slowly started to accept the fact that Natalie almost always prefers Matt over me.

There are the rare occasions when she will gladly leave his arms when I reach for her but most the time she clings to him and shakes her head “no” when I ask her to come to me. Instead of breaking down crying I have to just laugh about it at this point. It is kinda funny when she picks out a book and I tell her to let me read it to her but she gives me a dirty look and runs to Matt to look at it with him instead.

I work on Saturdays, so Matt is home with her all day. Today I called just to see how their day was going and he said when he laid her down for her nap, Natalie started crying and saying, "Mama," and signing "more".

It seems so wrong to be happy about it, but I am overjoyed that my child shed tears for me!

My giant greasy head up close.

She is such a doll. And way lucky to have a dad AND mom who love her so much.

Also. Can we just talk about how gorgeous you are for a second? Like, even when you're not dressed up you're still SO good looking. Not even fair.

I've never seen you with her hair up!! You still look gorgeous. And Natalie looks so little in that first pic.

That is so sweet she was crying mama and signing more. Ahhh, I would die! She's such a sweet girl. I can't wait to see you two again.

I still think it's a phase. But you'd better believe I'd be happy to hear if Tay was signing more and asking for me. Maybe I'm evil right along with you. ;)

Aww a little progress is great. I also think it's a phase that'll pass soon enough.
You two always take such pretty pictures together. I'm super jealous.

Aw, poor momma!! She loves you - don't let it get to you... and I too would be happy that she was calling for me. ;)

Noah doesn't reach for anyone, I try to tell people not to take is personal but they think he just doesn't want them to hold him! Haha.

That is so sweet and your "giant greasy head" is gorgeous! I would totally be thrilled with those tears too. Maybe she reaches for Matt because she knows he's the rarer commodity. I think kids are like sheepdogs and they really just want the whole herd to be together at all times.

Such a cutie! When she signs "more"... Does she know any other signs? I ask because I've heard only very little about baby signing, but would love to learn more before my own little one arrives! PS You have beautiful skin :)

Sounds like you have a daddy's girl on your hands. Kids go through phases, there will definitely be times when she prefers you...until she's a teenager when she'll hate you both. haha
