That Time I Lit My Husband's Computer on Fire

Lately I have been trying to cook things more, mostly because I'm bored but also because it makes me feel like a better wife and mother.

I know, it's a stupid validation and I'm still a terrible wife.

Last night I wanted to make a sauce to go along with the tacos I planned on burning for dinner.

I needed the recipe in the kitchen with me and had it pulled up on my husband's computer. I placed the computer on the stove and read the directions while prepping everything.

I was adamant about making this sauce delicious so I paid attention to every step intently. I threw some vegetables in a pan and added some spice.

I turned the stove on and began stirring things around. I felt like I was on Top fucking Chef. Veggies were cooking, aromas were flowing through the air...

Then Matt walks by and is like, "Don't leave that there!" or something along those lines.

Before I could question why he was yelling at me he grabbed his laptop, which was on fire, and put it out.

I had left it on the stove, right by the burner that I was cooking the sauce on.

I have never felt so dumb in my life.

I've also never been more sure that Matt loves me, because he didn't try to murder me afterwards.

Luckily there wasn't much damage done. His computer still works and just a small piece on the very front is melted.

I still can't get over what a jackass I am, but I guess we all make mistakes. Mine are just at the expense of others and could potentially kill us if not caught in time.

Because I'm awesome

Hahahahahahahaha, that is hilarious.

It's something I would expect to see on a sitcom. Good job.

It's definitely not stupid validation. As far as my husband goes cooking ranks only 2nd to one other thing, he would not be very happy without some good meals every now and then.

That is a funny story, something I might be capable of.

You make me laugh the way you write Sean :) No worries, your mistakes are no more ridiculous than the rest of ours. Two seconds after removing a hot sauce pan from the oven I picked it up again to move it (without the oven mitt) and went to the ER with 2nd degree burns on my entire palm....fun.
Don't give up on cooking, you CAN do it :)

I started laughing when you said you put it on the stove; I could only imagine where this was going. Often times I put my laptop on the cutout ledge in our kitchen and I know one of these times it's gonna fall overboard and smash into a thousand pieces, preferably not on JJ's head down below on the couch! It's the thought that counts, right? :)

This made me laugh, and makes me feel a little better about the terrible luck I've had lately because at least I didn't light a laptop on fire. I mean, I completely killed my laptop, broke a PS3 and a car. But I didn't light anything on fire.

bahahaha...you are top fucking chef! were the tacos good, atleast?! ;)

Hahaha... I sure am!

They were decent. The sauce wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I'll definitely try another version of it again. Next time I'm just going to write down the directions though! :p

Whenever I do something dumb... not that putting a laptop on the stove is dumb.... I honestly feel like my husband CANT get mad... I mean... they knew what we were capable of when they married us!

Yep, that's pretty much how I feel. I guess my husband does too. I can't believe he didn't lose it. He wasn't even a little bit mad at me. Guess he's just used to me doing stupid shit!

OMG!!! I knew this post wasn't going to end well when I read "I placed the computer on the stove..." :O

Oh well, I'm glad the computer survived!

"Last night I wanted to make a sauce to go along with the tacos I planned on burning for dinner."

You're hilarious! Funniest post ever!

Oh no! Cooking can be distracting. On time I put food in the microwave still wrapped in tin foil. Went up in flames:/

Haha oh my God, that is amazing. You are hilarious! I didn't even know laptops could catch fire. Shows how thick I am.
And at least the laptop is pretty unique now. Kinda looks like it's smiling.
