Happiness

Happiness to me is...

Spending an hour making my baby a homemade rice pudding that I think she'll really enjoy, only to have her want to mush it around and eat the bowl instead.

Happiness to me is...

Knowing no step is too hard to climb, no matter how small you are.

Happiness to me is...

Letting my baby play in the rain, then chase a strange cat down the alley because it makes her smile.

Happiness to me is...

Her.

This little girl is the center of my world. I love spending every single moment of my day with her, from sun up to sundown. She has been such a joy lately and has been so happy.

Today I made her a tasty little treat that she wasn't too interested in. It was a peach rice pudding and I thought she would really like it. She was unimpressed. It did make her really happy to play with it though. She kept looking up at me a giving me the biggest smiles as she smeared it everywhere. Well worth the hour spent slaving over the stove.

I thought it would be fun to venture into DC to run on the bike path so we hopped on the metro. Little did I know that there was no way to get to the path from the station. We went back home and walked up the the Masonic Temple instead. Natalie had a lot of fun there and wanted to climb up the stairs. She is so independent and ready to take on the world.

We then spent some time at Matt's parents house and ate dinner there. Afterwards we headed home and played on the deck as it began to rain. She loves the water so much. A cat was wandering around in the alley and Natalie got so excited. We followed it around trying to get close but it kept running away.

Daddy came home and we had some more family and play time before bath and bedtime. She's now sleeping peacefully while I type away.

I love my life more than I could ever explain. I don't give a shit how boring my days sound to anyone else. This is the most amazing time and I so look forward to each new adventure we experience together.

Your post made ME so very happy for you.

It sounds like you and pretty little Natalie are in a really good place.

Good. You both deserve it. (And Matt too!)

Such a sweet post. She looks so long in that last picture! Why are they growing up so fast??

This sounds like a pretty wonderful day to me! Her hair sure is looking blonde these days, I'll have to go back and see older pictures, but I was thinking it was darker. Either way, she is just beautiful and getting bigger every day!

Sweet post! It is amazing the amount of love that pours out when we become parents. It seems to be endless. :)

Love it all!!!!! Of course I am still laughing at your last sentence. I know some people feel the need to talk of all kinds of exotic, exciting adventures to impress but really what you described makes my heart break because I can relate exactly (not like I'd pass up a trip to Hawaii) but I just love how you captured your thoughts and the true joy that can be found if we let it.

I know exactly what you mean. Even the most boring sounding days can be so special when spent with your child.
I can't believe how old she's starting to look. She's such a pretty baby.

Awwwww my sweet friend, I SO get this! First off I LOVE how much you adore that little sunshine, you can tell you are just smitten w/ being a mommy. Sounds like you two had the perfect day together! As she gets older & older those special, ordinary, amazing, regular days are going to mean the world to her. I spent last night w/ Jax taking 3 Hot Wheels for walk, then we buried them in dirt... long story short... we only came home w/ two. He was a mess, it was straight to bath time... but you should have seen the smiles on his sweet face! Crazy boy!

BTW, the pic of her on the steps, priceless.

Big hugs mama...!

Awww I love this post. Your days out don't sound boring at all. In fact, please can I join you one time?
I'd quite like to smear rice pudding wherever I want, I don't think my mum would let me do that though haha! It looks like fun.
I love Natalie's polka dot (I think it's that?) outfit too, so cute!
Also, I love it when you swear, it's the best.

It sounds like an amazing day to me! I love how you just hopped on the metro and went into DC...I am jealous of you living so close to a big city!

I hear you. I spend so much time thinking about how blessed I am to just be with my babies, and watch them learn and explore. Natalie is a doll and I cant believe she lets you put things in her hair... Baker rips that stuff right off her head!
