Random Topic Tuesday

I know I'm pretty late but today is still Tuesday so here it is. I'd apologize for the delay but honestly I know no one is devastated the way I wish they were. Enjoy. :)

Today's topic is: why do you blog?

I started my blog around March of 2010 and wrote a couple of entries which no one ever saw since I didn’t necessarily go public with it. It was open to anyone who happened to stumble across it in the virtual world but I never mentioned it or promoted it in any sense. I just wanted somewhere to vent and write my (mostly cynical) thoughts. Shortly after my husband proposed to me while wedding planning I found an online forum where other bride to be’s shared their blogs. I thought this would be a good opportunity to write about my experience and the process of everything. My blog could now have a theme and way to relate to people. I started writing about the upcoming wedding and documenting things like dress shopping and floral arrangements. I found bride and newlywed bloggers with great blogs and started connecting with them. It was a lot of fun to get their opinions on what I should do with my hair and to hear how much they liked my choices. The wedding came and went and so did my interest in talking about it. I was newly pregnant and this is what has consumed me for the past few months. I blog because I love hearing feedback from other mom's and mom to be's and even those who don't have children. It's a nice way of relating to others about things that I typically wouldn't just strike up a conversation about with strangers. I've found people to be so supportive. I'm not sure if they're nicer in the blog world than they would be in real life or not. It's easy to hide behind a computer screen and talk crap if you want to and I think it shows decent character for those who don't. I blog as as a way of documenting my life and sharing it with others. It's a little strange to be so open with the world and the internet can be a dangerous place filled with creepos but I trust that no one is interested in stalking me beyond the information I share here (*fingers crossed*). Mostly I blog because it's entertaining and I really enjoy it. I really hope I don't lose interest and continue to blog.

What inspired you to start blogging?

Very cute! I blog because I want memories later in life for my kids. I figured writing them down is a sure way never to forget.

I started blogging because I have family out of town, and saw blogging as the easiest way to keep them informed. I still blog for out of town family, but now I also blog for the other mom bloggers. I love comments from other people and I love to gain insight into others lives as well.

I loved health blogs and wanted to start my own because of my passion for food and health. But very early on I realized I couldn't just focus on that. I just blog about my life, my feelings, what's important to me and of course my family.
I can't box myself in to any one subject.

I am not worried about weirdos because I always think they would be more terrified of me and me three crazy kids than we would be of them.

I started my blog to keep mine and my husband's familys updated on what we're doing (as we live far away from most) - then it turned into more of my pointless babbling :) I am still trying to find my "niche" in the blog world. Not planning a wedding, not incubating a human, not rearing said human, and not a single lady...lol

I love your blog because of your writing - I am super sarcastic and (try not to be) cynical - I usually "LOL"...literally..when I read your posts! :)

My first blog was an unschooling/personal blog. I talked about getting away from the school mind-set and about my personal, everyday life. I've been through a few other blogs since then and have now landed at it's current incarnation. I blog because I have things to say and I know someone out there will listen and agree... or if they don't agree, maybe they'll at least be inspired to contemplate another point of view. :)

I've been writing in journals online since 2002, and ended up moving to blogger when my favorite website shut down. Blogging is different though - there so many more people and so much support, and basically I blog for all the reasons you wrote about above. I love having people to talk to about my new role as a mother. It's hard and it makes it so much easier to know others have gone through the same things.

What a great post! You make so many great points I never thought of... I was worried about creepy people too when I started my blog but so far so good, not weirdos :) And I agree, people are very supporitve here in blog land!

(Elizabeth) I borrow my sis's AIM account so I can post a comment :)

Very valid reasons!! Sometimes I wonder why I blog, because when I'm busy (like now), it's tough to try and fit it in, BUT then I go onto my besties' blogs (you're in that category) and it inspires me to share the kind of things that you guys do. I started blogging because of my friend Jessie. She was always talking about how much joy it brought her and how it was a great place to vent or seek advice. As I started meeting more fabulous people, I was hooked! Love this! <3
